RE: How do you feel: campgrounds that require a "newer" rig?

From what I can read, the policy is for Seasonals...Here's what it says: ***A photo of the RV will be required if older than 5 years. ***Our policy is that our seasonal sites do not appear any different from our shorter-term sites. We do not authorize the building of decks or anything similar at our seasonal sites. We only allow satellite dishes, firewood, and a few potted plants outside the RV. Storage companies are nearby if you need extra capacity.

RE: Procedure question please

I agree with all the above, however, we were told (in Virginia anyway) unless there is a military presence with us the majority of the time we could not stay there. And some bases she had to be with us all the time because we as parents did not have military credentials to be on the base without a military sponsor in the first place, at least that is what we were told. I think it depends on the base, but I would definitely check it out ahead of time. Good luck!

RE: Fall Creek Falls St. Park, TN

I know it might be hard to see your son go, but we thank him for his service. Wow! 2-4 years. I truly thank your daughter for her service to our Country. Seth is not at the deployment stage yet. He has been at Ft.Benning in training for 7 months. One good thing about training, he is not deployed. I told him to take all the training he could get. Thanks, I may be sending you a PM when the going gets tough. River Plantation is nice, isn't it? Yes its nice, I get a bit aggravated at the people walking their dogs right up to our camp, but I guess that happens everywhere. The mountains are beautiful, and it is not crowded here at all like it was in June the last time we came, we've had 7 days of perfect weather and hate to leave it :(...we are heading home tomorrow dang it lol.. Write anytime! God Bless you and your family!

RE: Fall Creek Falls St. Park, TN

Cindy, I know exactly how you feel, our daughter is navy and leaving the 20th for spain for 2-4 years..hard to accept, but you are not alone, we are here for you! We are here at River Plantation in the Smokies, for the last few days the park has been 75 percent empty (my guess lol)...anyway, considering last weekends packed house its almost spooky.. Glad you were able to get away, God bless you and your family and tell your son we are so proud and humbled by his sacrifice to our great country. Take care and write if you need someone to listen!

RE: Charlottesville,VA T.Jefferson Home

we have a 37 foot rig and always stay at misty mountain...easy on and off the interstate yet not close enough to hear the traffic. the big rig sites are near the entrance. We thought the koa was nice but not for big rigs.. good luck on your choice!

RE: Campgound Shortfall

I agree with the other posts...nothing against the bigger cities, but come to the little ones, thats where you'll see a really good picture of Americana along with some beautiful scenery... try Amish country near berlin Ohio, plenty of campgrounds there and a a hour or so to cleveland.. Go out around 50-100 miles of the areas you want to stay, it will be cheaper and you will probably have a nicer, quieter stay. there are some really nice and beautiful state parks in Ohio..Some have full hookups.. Try that angle and see if it helps! Good Luck and welcome to America, The Good Lord has really Blessed us with some beautiful country!

RE: RV park in/near Greenville S.C. for long-term

Might check out Valley Park which is outside Greenville on highway 25. Have never stayed there, but drove through and it looked nice. Yes, that is the new name of dogwood...That is where i stayed for a month. The park has no ammenities and is basically just a gravel one road park, but I felt safe there.

RE: RV park in/near Greenville S.C. for long-term

Try Flowermill RV Park. RV Park Reviews website gives high marks. 200 or 250/mo. Hope this helps. NOOOO it is a dump and rv review is not accurate...I stayed in Greenville for a month a couple of years ago...the only place even close to acceptable was Dogwood at travelers rest. It is under another name now, but check travelers rest in the reviews and you can find it. My nephew( who I went to visit scoped most of the places out for me in about a 50 mile radius.. Hope that helps some! Not much to pick from in that area for long term.

RE: Central Virgina

We've been through there several times, in my opinion...NO! We stay at Misty Mountain and drive the ridge and other places, except for 460 we took out of chesterfield was a 4 lane... That is just my opinion...I would much rather have the toad than fight the traffic to Monticello and the windy roads else where.. Good luck on your decision!

RE: Here at the KOA in Nashville

My aunt and uncle made that trip last year on a motorcycle. Funny thing was, it was cheaper to get a hotel than it was to put up a tent anywhere around Nashville. Mike Yeah, but dang....some of those hotel rooms...you know what i mean:E

RE: Mount Airy , NC

We stopped through there one day traveling home from the south.. There was a fellow driving around town in an old sheriff's car and I swear he looked and acted just like Barney it was great!! He went in the drug store so I followed him in there... My parents always taught me not to stare at people, but I just couldnt help myself...I wanted to say something to him but didnt want to feel like a total knucklehead.....It was GREAT!! We stopped in the museum and talked to the lady that runs it...(if she is still there) she reminds you of aunt Bea and just as sweet as apples...The museum is very interesting.. As for a week, that would be a stretch, but like others said you can probably find other things in the area.. Hope that helps...
